Egypt’s national football team will fly inside the United States from Spokane to Seattle on Wednesday night as they prepare for their Group-stage match of the 2026 World Cup against Iran, team director Ibrahim Hassan said.
Egypt will conclude their Group-stage campaign against Iran in Seattle on Saturday, with both teams seeking to secure a place in the second round.
"The team will leave its training base in Spokane for Seattle on a private jet provided by FIFA for participating teams," Hassan was quoted as saying on the official Facebook page of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA).
Egypt, the seven-time African champions, opened their World Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against Belgium before securing a valuable 3-1 victory over New Zealand.
Monday’s triumph over New Zealand was Egypt's first-ever World Cup victory and moved the Pharaohs to the brink of a historic first qualification for the knockout stage.
Egypt lead the group with four points, two ahead of second-placed Iran.
Belgium, who face New Zealand on Saturday, are third on goal difference with the same number of points as Iran, while New Zealand are bottom with one point.
