Egypt's round-of-16 match against Argentina at the 2026 World Cup was the most-watched game involving an Arab team at the tournament, broadcaster beIN SPORTS said on Monday.

A record eight Arab teams competed at the expanded World Cup, generating a cumulative audience of 2.1 billion viewers across the Middle East and North Africa on beIN SPORTS, according to the broadcaster.

Egypt's 3-2 victory over defending champions Argentina in the last 16 on July 7 drew 192.6 million viewers, the highest audience for a match involving an Arab team at the tournament.

The seven-time African champions reached the World Cup knockout stage for the first time in their history. Egypt played five matches at the tournament, all of which ranked among the 10 most-watched games involving Arab teams.

"Eight Arab teams drew a massive cumulative viewership of 2.1 billion on beIN SPORTS across MENA, with 192.6 million watching Egypt's round-of-16 match against Argentina and 151.6 million tuning in for Morocco's quarter-final against France," the broadcaster said in a statement.

Spain won the World Cup on Sunday after substitute Ferran Torres scored in the 106th minute to secure a 1-0 extra-time victory over Argentina in the final.
