The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has denied releasing a new promotional video for the Grand Egyptian Museum's (GEM) upcoming inauguration, scheduled for 1 November.

The ministry stated that a video circulating on social media, which features prominent Egyptian and international actors and football players, is not an official production.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry clarified that the video was neither produced nor directed by its team, nor by its official partner for the inaugural promotional campaign, United Media Services.

The ministry described the footage as "falsified content that infringes on intellectual property and public performance rights," and confirmed that legal action will be pursued against those responsible.

"No new promotional films related to the museum’s opening have been issued to date," asserted the statement.

It also noted that all official materials will be published exclusively on the ministry's verified platforms, the Grand Egyptian Museum's social media pages, the official accounts of the Egyptian Tourism Authority, and United Media Services' media channels.

The ministry urged the public, media outlets, and social media users to verify information before sharing, and warned against the spread of unverified or misleading content.

The GEM, situated near the Giza Pyramids, is one of the world's largest archaeological museums and will house thousands of artefacts from Egypt's rich heritage.

Its opening is anticipated to draw global attention.
