Egyptian weightlifter Sara Samir etched her name in the annals of the sport by claiming three gold medals in the Women's 76kg event at the ongoing World Championships in Saudi Arabia on Thursday.
The 25-year-old athlete successfully defended her title from the previous year's World Championships in Bogota, Colombia, demonstrating her continued dominance on the World stage.
In the snatch category, Samir needed just one attempt to lift an impressive 108kg.
She surpassed all her competitors, with silver medalist Kim Su-hyeon of Korea falling short at 106kg after three attempts. Colombian weightlifter Hellen Escobar secured the bronze medal, also lifting 106kg on her third attempt.
Samir's success continued in the Clean & Jerk category, where she effortlessly lifted 138kg on her first attempt, securing the gold medal in the category.
She also claimed the gold medal in the total with 246.
On Wednesday, Karim Abokahla won three medals (two gold and one silver) in the 96kg category. Furthermore, compatriot Mahmoud Hassan secured the bronze medal in the Clean & Jerk category of the same weight class.
