Egypt's national volleyball team, the Pharaohs, have been dealt a challenging draw for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris 2024.
They have been placed in Group B alongside heavyweights Brazil, Italy, and Poland.
Poland, the reigning 2023 European champions, secured their title by defeating Italy 3-0 in the final.
Brazil, who won the silver medal in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and Italy, who claimed the same medal in the previous edition in Rio De Janeiro, are both very tough opponents.
The top two teams from each of the four-team groups will advance to the quarterfinals, as well as the two best third-placed teams from the three groups will also progress to the next round.
Despite Egypt's loss in the Olympic qualifiers, they have secured a spot in Paris due to their advanced position in the FIVB world ranking.
The Paris Olympics will mark Egypt's sixth participation in the Games and their first since Rio De Janeiro.
In their previous appearances, the Pharaohs have been unable to progress beyond the group stages.
