Egypt's U-23 national team winger Ahmed 'Zizo' Sayed emphasized that despite a goalless draw with the Dominican Republic in the Paris 2024 opener, the young Pharaohs still have a chance to qualify.
The young Pharaohs commenced their Olympic journey with a disappointing goalless draw, held by the Dominican Republic in a Group C match on Wednesday.
They now occupy the second spot in the group with a single point, trailing behind Spain, who clinched a 2-1 victory over Uzbekistan earlier in the day.
"We had hoped for a win but lacked belief in our ability to secure it," Zizo said in a post-game television interview.
"Every Olympic match is challenging," the Zamalek star added.
Zizo, a senior player alongside former Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny, highlighted the team's remaining opportunities.
"We still have two games ahead, and the road is long," he said.
Egypt is scheduled to face Uzbekistan on Saturday, while the Dominican Republic will challenge group leaders Spain on the same day.
