Egypt coach Rogério Micale blamed bad luck after his side were held to a goalless draw by the Dominican Republic in their opening Group C match at the Paris Olympics on Wednesday but vowed to fight for a win in the remaining two games.
"We were very unlucky against the Dominican Republic and we missed several good chances to win the game," Micale said.
The 55-year-old Brazilian said the Dominican Republic were not as easy as some thought since they have several players based in Europe.
"We didn't deliver our usual performance," he added.
"My players may have been negatively affected by the Olympics atmosphere but I have confidence in their ability to perform better in the coming games," Micale said
"We still have two matches to defend our dreams in the Olympics," he concluded.
Egypt next play Uzbekistan on Saturday before facing Spain on Tuesday.
Spain beat Uzbekistan 2-1 in the other Group C match.
