Egypt Handball team achieved a precious winning start at the Paris Olympics after securing a hard-fought 35-32 win over Hungary in the opening game on Saturday.
The Pharaohs jumped to a comfortable 14-7 lead but the Magyars reduced the deficit with the first half ending 19-15.
After the break, Hungary restored balance and levelled the score 23-23 in the 43rd minute as Egypt struggled.
Then the game remained a close contest until Egypt scored two successive winning goals in the dying minute to claim their first win in Paris.
The African champions are playing in a group that includes Argentina, Denmark, France, and Norway.
They play Denmark on Monday.
