Egypt achieved a precious winning start after securing a hard-fought 35-32 win over Hungary in the Paris Olympics opening game.

“The victory over Hungary is important and makes the national team close to the next round. The performance will improve with time,” Ali Zein, who plays for Romanian side Dinamo București, said after the match.

The African champions, Egypt, are playing in a group that includes Argentina, Denmark, France, and Norway.

They will play Denmark on Monday.

Former Ahly and Barcelona star Zein, 33, slammed the poor organization at the current edition of the Olympics, stressing that Egypt and other teams suffer from insufficient food and drinks.

Similarly, veteran keeper Karim Hindawi, 36, hailed Saturday’s win but deplored the poor organization.

“Today’s victory was very important for us as it is the first step to qualification,” Hindawi said.

“Hungary team is a strong one; all the teams here are strong and they all eye Olympic achievement,” he added.

The Saudi’s Al-Safa keeper also confirmed that all the teams suffer from bad accommodation arrangements at the Olympic Village in Paris.
