The Egyptian Olympic Committee has cleared Egyptian Boxer Yomna Ayyad and the Egyptian Boxing Federation of any wrongdoing after she was dropped from the 54 kg women's event for failing to meet the weight requirement.
Ayyad, who exceeded the specified weight by 700 grams on Saturday, faced accusations of negligence, as did the Egyptian Boxing Federation for this critical error.
Following an investigation by the Egyptian Olympic committee, an official statement was released on Sunday clearing both parties of any blame.
"Ayyad's weight gain was attributed to common physiological changes rather than any negligence on her part or that of the team's technical staff," read a statement issued by the Egyptian Olympic Committee on Sunday.
The committee also mentioned that a detailed medical report explaining the situation is available for review by any specialist interested in the matter.
