Egypt U-23 coach Rogerio Micale said on Sunday his side is awaiting a tough game when they take on their Spanish counterpart on Tuesday in the Olympics Group stage.
Following their 1-0 victory over Uzbekistan on Saturday, Egypt hold the second position in Group C with four points, trailing leaders Spain by two points with six points.
To advance to the next round, Egypt must avoid a loss against Spain.
Micale acknowledged the difficulty of the upcoming game against Spain, describing them as a disciplined and well-organized team. He emphasized the team's commitment to defending their aspirations, stating,
"Our objective is to progress as far as possible in the competition."
Micale commended his team's performance in the previous two matches, highlighting their determination to uphold Egypt's reputation in this significant event.
After a goalless draw against the Dominican Republic and a narrow 1-0 win over Uzbekistan, Micale attributed the initial challenges to immense pressure on the players during the Group opener.
Despite the hurdles faced, he noted the team's ability to alleviate pressure against Uzbekistan and secure the victory.
Micale concluded by affirming their dedication to preserving Egyptian football's standing in the tournament.
