Second in Group C with four points, the Egypt U-23 team must avoid a loss when they face group leaders Spain, who have a perfect six points to secure their spot in the next round.
Egypt began their Olympic campaign with a goalless draw against the Dominican Republic before securing a 1-0 victory over Uzbekistan in the next.
However, the Egyptians have yet to impress in these games.
Egypt currently hold the second spot in the group with four points, trailing Spain by two points and leading Uzbekistan by three points.
The Volleyball team faces a tough challenge against Italy, the 2023 European runners-up, after opening their Group stage with a 3-0 defeat to the European Champions, Poland, on Saturday.
The Egypt women's Beach Volleyball team, comprised of Doaa El-Ghobashi and Marwa Magdy will also take one Italy.
Italy are still present but this time in fencing as the Egypt women epee team will face them in the quarter-finals.
They hope to compensate their 2-0 loss (21-14, 21-19) in their first match against Brazil on Sunday.
