Led by world number one Ziad Elsissy, the Egyptian team, which included Adham Moataz and Yassin Khodir, struggled against their Italian counterpart during the 36-minute encounter.

Egypt had earlier suffered a narrow 45-41 defeat to France in the quarterfinals, ending their hopes of a podium finish.

The match against France saw a great performance from Elsissy, who won his three relays and claimed 19 points, but the results of his teammates did not help him.

In the ranking round, Egypt secured a thrilling 45-41 victory over Canada as Yassin Khodir replaced Mohamed Amer, who produced a disappointing performance against France.

With their sixth-place finish, the Egyptian Men's Sabre Team failed to do better than their performance at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where they finished fifth.
