The Egypt U-23 team is poised to make history at Groupama Stadium on Monday, where they will face hosts France in the semi-finals of the football competition at Paris 2024.

Achieving a spot in the semi-finals is already a notable feat, but the Egyptian side is eyeing an unprecedented medal win in the country's history, aiming to surpass their fourth-place finishes in Amsterdam 1928 and Tokyo 1964.

A victory against France would secure a medal for the Egyptian team.

In case of a loss, they will have another opportunity as they compete in the third-place match against the loser from the game between Spain and fellow African and Arab nation Morocco, who will clash earlier on Monday.

Despite facing a tough opponent like France, who will have the advantage of playing at home, Egypt's coach, Micale, insists that his team is prepared to fight for their goal, emphasizing that the dream of a medal is possible.

Throughout their campaign in the competition, the Egyptian team has demonstrated resilience, advancing to the quarter-finals as Group leaders and triumphing over Paraguay 5-4 in a shootout following a 1-1 draw.

However, the classy winger, Ahmed 'Zizo' Sayed, is doubtful for the upcoming match due to a muscle injury sustained against Paraguay, while fullback Ahmed Eid, who suffered a hamstring injury in the same match, has been ruled out against France.

Enppi fullback Mohamed Hamdi has been named as his replacement.

In the realm of wrestling, Abdelatif Mohamed Ahmed will kick off his pursuit in the 130 kg Greco-Roman event, where the world number 2 Egyptian wrestler will face Muhammat Bakir of Turkey as he vies for an Olympic medal.

Similarly, in the 60 kg category, Moemen Rabie faces a tough test against the world number 2 Chinese wrestler, Liguo Cao.

Diver Malak Tawfiq will begin her quest in the 10m platform Women's Preliminary round, while Egypt's table tennis men and women teams will compete in the round of 16 team events.

The men's team will take on Chinese Taipei, while the women's team faces a tough challenge against China.

Egypt's artistic swimming team will make their debut in the teams' technical routine Preliminary round, and sailors Ali Badawy and Khouloud Mansy will conclude their Olympics campaign as they participate in the 9th and 10th races.
