Egyptian wrestler Mohamed Gabr has reached the semi-final of the 97 kg Greco-Roman Men event at the Paris Olympic Games where he will be facing Iran's Mohammadhadi Saravi later on Tuesday.
The 27-year old reached the semis after defeating Belarus' Abubakar Khaslakhanau 4-1 earlier on Tuesday.
In the semis, Gabr will have a mountain to climb as he is set to face the 2021 world champion and Tokyo bronze medalist Mohammadhadi Saravi who outclassed Uzur Dzhuzupbekov of Kyrgyzstan 8-0 in the quarters.
Gabr began his Olympic campaign on a high note, claiming a 6-1 win against Kajaia Mihail of Serbia, securing his spot in the quarterfinals.
Earlier on Tuesday, Egyptian wrestler Abdellatif Ahmed secured a 6-4 victory over Kiril Milov of Bulgaria in the repechage round of the 130 kg event.
He will challenge Lingzhe Meng of China on Tuesday for the bronze medal.
