Morocco U-23 manager Tarik Sektioui expressed on Wednesday his team's determination to secure the bronze medal after their aspirations for gold slipped away.
Following their 2-1 defeat to Spain in the semifinals on Monday, the Moroccan team is set to face Egypt at La Beaujoire stadium in Nantes on Thursday in the game for the bronze medal.
"We aimed for the final, but falling short makes winning the bronze medal a necessity for us," Sektioui conveyed to a Moroccan TV channel on Wednesday.
"We produced a strong performance, and it's imperative for us to bring a medal back to Morocco."
Acknowledging the disappointment his players felt after the loss to Spain, Sektioui emphasized the importance of using that setback as motivation to claim the bronze medal.
Sektioui lauded the Egyptian team, recognizing the challenge his side faces against them.
"The upcoming game will be tough, as Arab encounters are always intense.
"The Egyptian team is formidable and has shown impressive performances throughout the competition, but we are prepared to emerge victorious against them," he concluded.
Egypt lost 3-1 to hosts France in the semi-finals on Monday.
