This historic victory, which saw him shatter the Olympic and world records, has sent shockwaves through the sporting world.

However, the champion has set his sights on the future. In an interview, Elgendy, 24, revealed his ambitions to compete at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

"This is a dream come true, to stand on the top of the podium, hearing the Egyptian national anthem. It’s something I've worked my entire life for. But my journey doesn't end here," he added.

Although Elgendy has been battling a shoulder injury since the Tokyo Olympics, he remains optimistic about his chances for another Olympic campaign, manifesting his unwavering determination and resilience.

"Los Angeles 2028 is a goal of course. I need to recover fully from this injury, but with the right support and training, I believe I can be there," he affirmed.
