FM Fahmy meets Chinese counterpart in Beijing

Foreign ministry spokesperson reveals the Chinese president will send China's industry minister as an envoy to attend the inauguration of El-Sisi as president Sunday


Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Nabil Fahmy met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi during his participation in the 6th China-Arab Cooperation Forum and its ministerial conferences in Beijing, reported the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The official spokesperson of the ministry, Ambassador Badr Abdel-Atti, issued a statement that Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to President-elect Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, wishing him as well as Egypt a great future and expressing his hope that Egypt returns to its leading role in the region and in the world.

Abdel-Atti revealed that the Chinese minister of industry and information technology will be the special envoy of the Chinese president in the inauguration of President-elect El-Sisi this Sunday.

Abdel-Atti stated that Fahmy discussed bilateral relations with his Chinese counterpart, who will visit Cairo soon.

Fahmy also discussed in talks with Yi the latest developments in the peace process in the Middle East as well as on Syria and the Nile Basin water crisis.

According to Abdel-Atti, Fahmy asked his Chinese counterpart to play an effective role in talks between Nile Basin countries.
