Activists hope to deliver LE2.3 million worth of medical aid to Palestinians facing a deadly

An Egyptian medical aid convoy set off for Gaza on Thursday.

The Popular Committee to Support the Palestinian People is heading from Cairo to the Rafah border crossing in North Sinai.

The committee said it had collected medicine and medical supplies worth LE2,300,000 ($300,000) which it would deliver to the Palestinian Red Crescent and confirmed it had received permits for the convoy from the health and foreign ministries, and the intelligence services.

A similar convoy was denied passage to Gaza last week at a military check point naer Al-Arish in Sinai despite acquiring proper permits.

Thursday's medical convoy is accompanied by a medical delegation of 12 people, including representatives from the doctors syndicate.
