The supreme guide of the Muslim Brotherhood will meet with Al-Azhar's Grand Imam Tuesday as part of an initiative to open the door for dialogue among different societal groups

Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El-Tayeb will receive a delegation from the Muslim Brotherhood headed by the group's supreme guide, Mohamed Badei, stated Al-Tayeb's office Monday. The meeting that will take place in the Grand Imam's office Tuesday morning is the first of its kind in the history of Al-Azhar and the Muslim Brotherhood.

The emergence of Islamist movements in the political arena, the new party announced by the Brotherhood and its programme and the concept of a civil Islamic state will be among the issues discussed Tuesday.

The meeting between El-Tayeb and Badei comes as a part of Al- Azhar's preparations to organise a conference on the future of Egypt. Islamist groups are expected to participate in the conference alongside other political groups in an initiative that aims to open the door for dialogue between different societal groups while also initiating dialogue between Islamist groups under an Al-Azhar umbrella.
