Egypt Olympic team coach Hossam El-Badry has underlined his interest in leading the senior football team after the Egyptian national team lost 2-1 to Tunisia in the final matchday of the 2015 African Cup of Nations on Wednesday.

The Pharaohs set an unwanted record of failing to reach the African Cup of Nations three times in a row after losing 2-1 to Tunisia, placing third in Group G with six points.

The 53-year-old tactician El-Badry asked the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to respect the Egyptian people by choosing the right person to lead the senior national football team.

"I hope the coming Egypt coach will be chosen on a practical basis," El-Badry told radio programme Agmal Sabah on Thursday.

"If I am asked to replace (Shawky) Gharib in his post as Egypt national team coach I will agree," the former Ahly boss concluded.

El-Badry led Egyptian giants Ahly to Egyptian Premier League and African Champions League titles before abruptly leaving the club for Libyan team Ahly Tripoli.

He is set to lead the Olympic Pharaohs until the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
