Shabana ease past Reda in World Squash Open

Defending champion Amr Shabana disposed of his young compatriot from Egypt, Ali Anwar Reda in straight games on Saturday, to reach the third round of the World Squash Open in Saudi Arabia

Reda had a good opening as he was able to hold Shabana to a 6-6 scoreline but the reigning champion stepped on the gas to win 11-7.

The four-time World Champion showedl his masterclass and experience in the second set 11-1, but had tomake moreeffort in the third, 11-7 against the promising player.

“It's great for us to have so many good youngsters coming through in Egypt,” Shabana was quoted saying on the competition official website

“You can't afford to relax with them pushing us, so it keeps us older ones on our toes. But Reda showed enough that he may soon be posing a stiffer challenge to the top players,” the 31-year old player added.

Shabana will face Azlan Iskandar from Malaysia in the third round on Monday.
