A Belgian Anonymous hacker group has said they will avenge the attack on France's Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine by shutting down jihadist websites and accounts on social media, The Daily Telegraph reported Saturday.

The group released a video and a statement on Twitter condemning the Wednesday attacks on Charlie Hebdo, in which 12 people, including eight journalists, were murdered by armed gunmen.

Since the attack a Twitter campaign with the hash tag #JeSuisCharlie quickly gained momentum as thousands marched the streets of Paris in support of the victims and of journalists.

The clip shows a figure wearing a "V for Vendetta" mask stating that it is "a message for Al-Qaeda, the Islamic State and other terrorists."

The masked figure says in the clip, "We are declaring war against you, the terrorists."

Charlie Hebdo has been known for printing inflammatory cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed, angering many Muslims.

The Belgian group states in the clip that they will track down and close the accounts of terrorists on social media in an attempt to avenge those killed in the Paris attacks.
