CAF Champions League quarterfinals decider between Morocco’s Wydad Casablance and Tanzanian Simba will be held at Cairo Petrosport Stadium
Cairo will host the Champions’ League quarterfinal decider between Wydad Casablance and Simba between 27 and 29 May.
“The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) received an official request to hold the match in Cairo and we agreed,” EFA competition committee head, Amer Hussien told Ahram Online.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) decided early this week to eliminate the title holders, DRC’s TP Mazembe ,after they were disqualified from the competition for fielding an ineligible player named Janvier Besala Bokungu, following Simba’s official complaint.
The four-time African Champions defeated Simba before winning against Wydad Casablance to qualify in the last 8, so they are to play a decider in a neutral venue, Petrosport Stadium in El-Katameya.
“We are waiting for the two clubs' letters confirming the match date,” Hussien added.
The winner will be competing in Group B alongside three Arab clubs; Egyptian Ahly, Algerian Mouloudia and Esperance of Tunisia.
The other group pits together Sudanese side Al-Hilal, Cameroon’s Cotonsport, Nigeria’s Enyimba and Morocco’s Rajaa.
