Egyptian boss Hossam El-Badry says Rami Rabia will leave Sporting Lisbon after struggling to play first-team football in Portugal
Egypt's U-23 manager Hossam El-Badri revealed that Rami Rabia confided in him that he will part ways with Sporting Lisbon by the end of the season after struggling for a long period of time to play for the first team.
Rabia, who sealed his Sporting switch from Ahly on a five-year deal last summer, has been confined to team B appearances for last season's league runners-up so far – after an abdominal injury took a toll on him early in his new overseas career.
"Rabia told me ahead of our game with Burundi that he will part company with Sporting next summer," El-Badri said.
"He agreed on terms with the Sporting board, and is just waiting for the green light to move away from the club.
"He doesn't want to return to Egypt; he wishes to continue his career abroad. He has offers from clubs in France and Belgium."
Shortly after joining Sporting, 21-year-old Rabia was unlucky to receive an abdominal injury that kept him on the sidelines for nearly three months.
Egypt beat Burundi 2-0 to qualify for the All-Africa games with a 4-0 aggregate win over the African minnows.
