Tennis: Andy Murray considering withdrawing from Italian Open
AP, , Tuesday 12 May 2015

With his body worn down after winning consecutive clay-court titles, Andy Murray is considering withdrawing from the Italian Open.

Murray says Tuesday: ''I'm practicing again this afternoon and I'll decide this evening. It's obviously been a long couple of weeks.''

In the past two weeks, Murray won his first clay title at the Munich Open, then beat Rafael Nadal in Sunday's Madrid Open final for his first Masters trophy on the surface.

Murray says: ''I made my schedule based on my performances on clay in the past couple of years and I never played that well on clay. So I didn't expect to play eight matches in the space of 10 days.''

The third-seeded Murray, who has a bye in the first round, is scheduled to open against 38th-ranked Jeremy Chardy of France on Wednesday.
