Chaotic fights erupted in Tahrir Square, where an journalist and a policeman trying to protect her were mobbed

A TV host covering the demonstrations in Tahrir Square, Egypt on Friday was mobbed. The reason behind the attack remains unknown.

According to eyewitnesses, police officer Ahmed Samy interfered to protect her and fired several gunshots in the air, after which he was also attacked and injured. Samy also had his gun stolen.

Several demonstrators rushed to interfere and moved Samy to Omar Makram Mosque, located near the square.

An estimated two hundred were protesting in Tahrir Friday.
