Ahly's new signing Malick Evouna hit a brace as Gabon thrashed Sudan 4-0 at home in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers on Saturday to record their first Group I victory.

Evouna, who joined the Egyptian giants in the summer, opened the scoring after 28 minutes with an easy tap-in into an empty net after a cross from the left evaded the keeper.

Samson Mbingui doubled the lead on 61 minutes and burly striker Evouna made it 3-0 seven minutes later when he ran half the length of the pitch unopposed after breaking the offside trap before easily rounding the keeper to slot home

Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang completed the rout in the 70th minute as Gabon moved top with four points, one ahead of Sudan.

Ivory Coast, who drew with Gabon in their opening game, take on Sierra Leone, who lost to Sudan, in the other group match on Sunday.
