EFA introduce reserves’ league, increase squads
Mohamed Mosselhi, Friday 10 Dec 2010
Egyptian Football Association (EFA) president Samir Zaher has reiterated that the reserves’ league will be inaugurated starting from the next campaign

“The reserves' league will be played, starting next season but we have not yet agreed on the final format of the competition,” Zaher was quoted as saying on the EFA official website.

The new competition has been at the centre of controversy amidclaims it could disturb the Egyptian premier league schedule and add an unneeded burden.

"We decided to increase the number of players in the club squad to 30 instead of 25, to provide enough manpower for the clubs to play in the reserves’ league” he added.

The number of players per club has already been set at 30 in previous years butwas limited to 25 at the beginning of the season, in addition to 5 young players, in order to promote youth football.
