Despite losing the Egypt Super Cup to foes Ahly, Zamalek announced late Saturday their continued support for Portuguese coach Jesualdo Ferreira.

After the Whites lost two titles, exiting the CAF Confederation Cup and losing the Egypt Super Cup, Zamalek's chairman Mortada Mansour opened fire on the tactician, saying he was responsible for the loss due to bad choices in starting lineups.

Mansour did not fire Ferreira, who has a three months salary pay-out clause in his contract, but rather appointed new technical staff who he said would be responsible for the team's lineups.

Mansour met with Ferreira Saturday and decided to extend the management's confidence in the coach to take charge of the team during the Wadi Degla game in the Egyptian Premier League season opener Wednesday.

"Ferreira will continue with the team while the final decision on his future will be revealed when the league goes on break due to national team commitments," Mansour told reporters after meeting with Ferreira.

"We discussed the reasons for losing the Super Cup, as no one can bear losing a competition," Zamalek board member Ahmed Mortada Mansour said.

Zamalek extended the contract of the Portuguese coach in August for one year at a monthly salary of $50,000.

Mansour has made it clear that he won't pay the pay-out clause in Ferreira's contract and that if the Portuguese coach wants to leave, the door is open.
