Egypt assistant manager Osama Nabih is confident his side will overturn the one-goal deficit to Chad in the return leg after losing 1-0 in N'Djaména in the World Cup second-round qualifiers.

An injury-plagued Egypt side suffered defeat at the African minnows, who had been previously thumped 5-1 at home at the hands of the Pharaohs in the Cup of Nations' qualifiers in September.

But Nabih still believes Egypt are capable of making it to the five four-team group-stage when both teams clash again at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium on Tuesday.

"The tie is 180 minutes; we got still 90 minutes left," Nabih told BeIN Sports TV channel.

"They were better than us at certain times, plus the nature of the pitch didn't quite help us," he added, referring to the artificial turf atStade Nacional.

"We also had chances that we failed to convert, but I have confidence that we'll be able to overturn the deficit at Borg El-Arab Stadium."

Widemen danger contained

On the other hand, Chad coach Mohamed Omar explained how he managed to beat Egypt, a result that largely owed to his tactics through which he contained the danger of the visitors' wide men.

Egypt manager Hector Cuper deployed a 4-4-2 formation, with Mahmoud 'Kahraba' and Moemen Zakareya starting out wide.

"The main reason behind our victory was that we managed to stop Egypt's most potent weapon down the flanks," Chadian coach Omar told BeIN Sports.

"Egypt boast players with tremendous speed on the wings, but we were able to thwart them.

"We changed 50% of the team from the side that lost 5-1, and dealt with the match as a totally different game.

"No-one really expected us to defeat Sierra Leone in the previous round, and today something similar has happened."
