Egypt's Zamalek agrees on Omar Gaber move to Swiss Basel

Details have not been officially released but reports suggest Gaber will go for about 1.65 million euros and a friendly between the sides


Zamalek have accepted the offer from Switzerland's club FC Basel to land their midfielder Omar Gaber, a club official announced on Wednesday.

"An agreement has been made between Zamalek and Basel to move Omar Gaber to Basel and the final procedures will be made soon," the club's board member Ahmed Mortada Mansour stated on Wednesday.

The club hasn’t officially announced details of the offer yet but local reports suggested that the deal will reach 1.65 million euros and will include a friendly game between the two sides.

The 23-year-old player Gaber is a popular key player in Zamalek's squad. He is a three-time Egypt Cup winner, and a one-time Egyptian Premier League holder with the club.

Gaber, a versatile midfielder who also plays as a right-back has been a key player in the Egyptian national team since 2011.
