We will dominate Eto’o, says Mazembe striker

Mazembe striker Mulota Kabangu played down the threat that Samuel Eto’o might pose in Saturday’s anticipated Club World Cup final against Italian giants Inter Milan

“I played against Eto’o before when Cameroon and DR Congo met in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers and he did nothing in that game,” Kabangu said in an interview with UAE newspaper Al-Bayan on Friday.

“We managed to contain him and he couldn’t score. We will do that again in the final.”

The Democratic Republic of Congo side made history after becoming the first African representative to reach the Club World Cup final, thanks to a shock 2-0 victory over Brazil’s Internacional.

They set up a tough clash against European champions Inter, who are naturally firm favorites to lift the tournament’s trophy.

“Football is not all about the caliber of certain stars or clubs, it’s an on-pitch competition,” Kabangu, who turns 25 later this month, added.

“We believe that nothing is impossible in football, that’s why we are confident we would be able to win tomorrow.

“The players’ morale is sky high and we are all determined to feature in that once-in-a-lifetime match.”

Kabangu was one of Mazembe’s heroes in their epic victory over the more fancied Internacional, opening the scoring eight minutes after the break in superb fashion.

He neatly controlled a long ball inside the area before sending a curling right-foot shot into the far corner of the net.

“We defeated Internactional and we are also capable of defeating Inter Milan,” Kabangu said.
