France is hosting a peace conference on 30 May, in its latest attempt to relaunch peace talks between the Palestinians and Israelis
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry had a "long meeting" on Friday with his American counterpart John Kerry in New York, during which the pair discussed regional affairs, Egypt’s foreign ministry said.
The ministers discussed the situations in Syria and Libya, as well as their “common visions that would increase stability in the region and aid in ending current crises,” according to the Egyptian statement.
They also discussed preparations for an upcoming Israeli-Palestinian peace conference in France.
France is holding peace talks on 30 May, in its latest attempts to relaunch peace talks between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.
The conference will reportedly include the US, Russia, EU and UN representatives, Arab league envoys, as well as 20 other countries, among them Egypt.
Shoukry is currently in the United States to head a UN Security Council counter-terrorism meeting; Egypt is May's council chair.
