Zamalek face Ahly Saturday in the much anticipated Cairo derby, though the Whites have already lost the league
Zamalek are aiming to win against arch-rivals Ahly Saturday in the anticipated Cairo derby, to "please our loyal fans," club football manager Ismail Youssif said.
The team has had no holidays, despite the Muslim Eid Al-Fitr feast, resuming regular trainings Wednesday with a one-day break after the Smouha 1-1 draw Monday.
"Zamalek is fully ready for Ahly and we target a win and this is the least we can present to our loyal fans," Youssif was quoted as saying on the club's official website.
Zamalek lost their league title bid by eight points behind champions Ahly who collected 75 points.
Youssif announced that the club's first goalkeeper Mahmoud Abdel Rahim 'Gennesh' will be ready for the game as his injury is minor.
Tarek Hamed will play the game as the yellow card he was shown during the Smouha game was his first, the club confirmed.
After their league failure, Cairo giants Zamalek are eyeing a continental consolation after a fine start in the CAF Champions League group stage winning 1-0 against Nigeria's Enyimba.
They are playing South Africa's Sundowns 17 July.
