AFCA for Arts and Culture is holding a three-day training and seminars in the arts management of performing arts titled The Cairo Training, to be held at the Supreme Council of Culture between 6 and 9 February.

The program aims to serve as an introduction to arts management theory and practice, and help intermediate-level individuals and institutions in the performing arts to develop in that respect.

The training will be led by Yvette L.Campbell, former President and CEO at the Harlem School of the Arts, and founding director of The Ailey Extension in New York City.

Artists and art managers from both the independent sector and governmental entities are invited to attend the training, which promises to benefit them in sustaining their projects and organizations.

The sessions will be focused on the following topics: Strategic planning, marketing, fundraising, monitoring and evaluation.

Additionally, Egyptian artists and arts managers will be invited as speakers to share insghts and practical experiences, such as Khaled Galal, Head of cultural production sector at the Ministry of Culture, Heba El Cheikh head of Mahatat for contemporary arts, and Bill Bragin, the first executive artistic director of the New York University Abu Dhabi Arts Center, among others.

Some of this collaboration’s goals include linking beginner or intermediate art managers with established art organizations, to share the best practices and methods in sustaining their work in the face of many difficulties.

AFCA, the organization behind Hakawy International Arts Festival for Children headed by Mohamed El-Ghawy, organized the training in collaboration with the Supreme Council of Culture and the US Embassy in Cairo.
