The deputy minister escaped with security forces in an ambulance after crowds did not believe his assurances the ministry would not interfere with their school

Thousands of students and their parents detained Mohsen Abdul-Aziz Zomara, deputy ministry of education, in Alexandria, and current director of the new Al-Nasr school in Shatby, Alexandria.

The action was in response to minister of education's decision to turn the school into an experimental one.

Zamoura was detained while visiting the school. He had tried to placate the angry crowds greeting his arrival by assuring them he had discussed postponing the decision with with the minister. The crowds didn’t believe him and asked for written proof with the minister's signature.

Security forces intervened without harming any of the students and were able to free Zamoura. He left in an ambulance after fainting from all the commotion.

None of Alexandria’s state schools were working today as students across the city held sit-in protests in their schools' courtyards for the second day.Thousands of students and their parents detained Mohsen Abdul-Aziz Zomara, deputy ministry of education, in Alexandria, and current director of the new Al-Nasr school in Shatby, Alexandria.
