Zamalek attacking midfielder Mostafa Fathi, who is currently on loan with Saudi side Al-Taawoun, will be out of action for two more months as he has not recovered from a lingering knee injury, his club announced on Sunday.

Fathi, who joined Saudi outfit Al-Taawoun on loan for one season with a reported fee of $1.4 million last summer, suffered from the injury ahead of the Egyptian national team game against Congo in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers earlier this month.

"Fathi failed to recover from injury despite undergoing observation with team's medical staff," read a statement on Al-Taawoun's official website.

"The winger didn't recover quickly as he did not have enough rest last season," it said.

"The technical staff handed Fathi a 10-day break then he will undergo a rehab program for six weeks," the statement added.

The 23-year-old Egyptian, who had been previously linked in a loan move with Italy’s Serie A Torino and Bologna, has played only five game with Al-Taawoun, scoring two goals in the Saudi league.
