The musical circus show features twenty girls from the Darb El-Ahmar Arts School

The Darb Al-Ahmar Arts School (DAAS) will present The Flying Noon performance at El-Genaina Theatre on 1 November.

The musical circus show is the latest in DASS’ Flying Kids project, and will feature twenty girls from the school.

The show’s artistic supervisor is Khawla Abou Saada.

An earlier installment of the project, the Flying Concert, was held in September in collaboration with musician Fathy Salama, as was a showcasing of the output of a music workshop.

Since its opening in 2012, the Darb Al-Ahmar School — located in the economically underprivileged district of the same name — has succeeded in supplying dozens of children with an array of artistic skills.

The school currently has around 110 students in two departments.

The Music Department includes percussion, wind instruments, and accordion sections.

The Performing Arts Department includes circus arts, dance, and acting.

The school, which aims to provide neighborhood children with an arts education to help in securing future jobs, was founded by the NGO Culture Resource (Al-Mawred Al-Thaqafy) in cooperation with the Aga Khan Development Network's Music Initiative.

The Flying Kids project is held collaboration with the Swiss Embassy in Cairo.
