The Egyptian military said on Monday that it had seized two million narcotic pills that were about to be smuggled into the country through the Salloum border crossing with Libya.

In an official statement, army spokesman Tamer El-Refaie said border guards foiled a smuggling attempt by fourteen 4x4 wheelers laden with the narcotic analgesics, as well as thousands of unlicensed cigarette packs.

Twenty men, all Egyptian, were arrested in relation to the smuggling attempt.
