Egypt condemned on Tuesday the suicide bombing attack on Afghanistan's Ministry of Rehabilitation and Development in Kabul which left 13 dead and injured 31 others, a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry read.

The statement expressed Egypt's condolences to the families of the victims as well its wish for speedy recoveries for the injured.

"The people and government of Egypt stand with the people and government of Afghanistan against this sinful terrorism that targets innocent people during Ramadan, [an act which is] against the teachings of Islam," the statement read.

The Islamic State terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
