The film by Ahmed Amer has been screened internationally in festivals and commercial cinemas
The Egyptian film Kiss Me Not will be screened on 30 August at the NVIC (Netherlands-Flemish Institute in Cairo) rooftop cinema.
Directed by Ahmed Amer, Kiss Me Not “tracks the rise and fall of the kiss in Egyptian cinema in a comedy that blurs the line between documentary and fiction” according to the film synopsis on the Facebook event.
The film had its international premiere at The Dubai International Film festival, and its Egyptian premiere at the Aswan International Women’s Festival.
Kiss Me Not has been featured in international festivals including the Arab Film Festival in Paris, the Shanghai International Film Festival, the Tripoli Film festival, and the Miami Film Festival.
It was also screened commercially in Dubai’s VOX cinema, along with five Tunisian cinemas and the Metropolis cinema in Lebanon, but hasn't been released commercially in Egypt.
Kiss Me Not follows a young and ambitious Egyptian director who faces challenges while shooting a kissing scene in his new film because the lead actress, Fajr, decides to pursue a more religious personal path.
The film stars Yasmin Raeis, Mohamed Mahran, and Salwa Mohamed Ali, and features actress Sawsan Badr, the late director Mohamed Khan, and director Khairy Beshara.
