Zamalek coach says competing for the Egyptian Premier League title is 'difficult' after victory
Zamalek coach Christian Gross praised the performance of his team's players after beating the Arab Contractors 2-1 in the 7th matchday of the Egyptian Premier League on Sunday, believing it's difficult to compete for the tournament's title.
The Cairo side, Zamalek, needed a late winner from forward Youssef Ibrahim to snatch a 2-1 victory over the Arab Contractors and move atop of the Egyptian Premier League on Sunday.
"The game against the Arab Contractors was difficult, but our players managed to dominate their opponents, especially in the first half, along with creating many scoring chances," Gross told a television programme on Sunday.
"The victory is important for the team, as it puts up on top of the Premier League's table," he continued.
"It's not easy to compete for the Egyptian Premier League's title, as it's a difficult competition," the Swiss coach said.
The White Knights are on top of the table with 17 points, two ahead of second-placed Pyramids, who still have a game in hand. The Contractors lie at 13th with seven points.
