Egyptians should pay taxes at banks this year instead of tax authority, finance ministry announces on Monday

Egyptian taxpayers should pay their taxes at banks, not at branches of the tax authority as had been the custom previously, according to a press release issued Monday by the finance ministry.

Finance Minister Momtaz Al-Said has reportedly instructed tax offices throughout Egypt not to accept any cash or bank checks from taxpayers, who will have until the end of March to present their tax returns at the nation's banks.

A reported 1400 bank branches countrywide will provide the service, according to the ministry statement.
