MENA, , Wednesday 4 Sep 2019

Egypt's Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Ihab Gamal said on Wednesday that the Egyptian state has the political will to boost human rights.

In his speech at a forum on human rights as the basis for sustainable development, which is organised by the National Council for Human Rights, he said that Egypt is exerting serious efforts to bolster human rights, which he described as an important part of the country's comprehensive development process.

Egypt has a long history of observing human rights, he said, adding that bolstering human rights needs a lot of time and effort.

He further noted that the forum gives an opportunity for the participants to review all issues related to human rights and to exchange viewpoints on this score.

The Egyptian government will study reports from the human rights council and NGOs and is keen on implementing their recommendations on bolstering human rights, he said.
