Egypt, Jordan FMs discuss Israeli West Bank settlements ahead of Arab League meeting

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry asserted Egypt's stance on compliance with international legitimacy resolutions and international law as regards the illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.

During a meeting with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi on Monday ahead of an extraordinary meeting of the Arab League Council, held at the ministerial level, they discussed how to deal with the latest developments in the Palestinian issue, particularly the illegal settlements, foreign ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.

The two top diplomats also reviewed the progress achieved in pushing forward bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields.

They also exchanged views on the latest regional developments and a number of other regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Meeting with Saudi foreign minister

Minister Sameh Shoukry also met on Monday with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud, where they discussed Egyptian-Saudi relations, according to the Egyptian foreign ministry.

They also discussed the recent developments in the Palestinian territories and the Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.

Both meetings took place in Cairo on the sidelines of the Arab League extraordinary meeting of foreign ministers.
