A Cairo criminal court ordered on Wednesday the conditional release of labour lawyer and human rights activist Haitham Mohamadein and activist Mostafa Maher.
The two were arrested in May and have since been detained pending trial over charges including links with a terrorist organisation and spreading false news.
Mostafa Maher is the brother of prominent activist Ahmed Maher, a symbol of the popular revolution that ousted Hosni Mubarak in 2011 and the founder of the 6 April Movement.
The court decision can still be appealed by the prosecution.
If confirmed, the decision would mean the two should regularly report to a police station after their release.
