Egypt's FM Shoukry, Italian counterpart discuss Libya developments

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed the latest developments in the ongoing crisis in Libya with Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio in a telephone call on Thursday, the Egyptian foreign ministry said.

The two FMs discussed the latest developments in Libya and how to boot efforts to restore peace and security there as well as preparations for the Berlin conference on Libya.

Di Maio discussed the results of his visit to Libya and his meetings with officials there.

The two ministers also discussed the recent escalation resulting from the MoUs on security and maritime borders signed between Faiz Sarrag's government in Tripoli and the Turkish government, and how such an action violates Skhirat agreement, the statement read.

Shoukry and Di Maio agreed to continue to push the Libyan parties to fully cooperate with the UN special envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame in order to support the Berlin conference.
