Egypt supports Kenya against terrorism and radicalism: FM Shoukry

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said on Thursday that Egypt supports Kenya against terrorism and extremism, the Egyptian foreign ministry reported.

In a meeting with Kenyan counterpart Raychelle Omamo in Addis Ababa on the sidelines of 36th session of the executive council of the African Union, Shoukry praised the relations between Egypt and Kenya, saying that they have witnessed remarkable development since President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's visit to Kenya in 2017 and the visit by the speaker of the Kenyan National Assembly to Egypt in 2020.

The Egyptian FM also said that Egypt is keen to support Kenya's development efforts in health, housing, manufacturing and food security.

He also expressed Egypt's keenness on boosting economic cooperation with Kenya, especially given that Kenya is Egypt's largest African trading partner.

Shoukry and Omamo also discussed the recent developments in Africa and the efforts to support peace and security in the continent.
