Lenin El-Ramly was known for his daring ridicule of Middle Eastern culture and politics
Egyptian playwright and TV and film writer Lenin El-Ramly died on Friday at age 75.
El-Ramly's wife, writer Fatma El Maadoul, said he passed away following nearly a week in intensive care.
She did not announce a date for the funeral and memorial service.
El-Ramly was known for his satire and daring ridicule of Middle Eastern culture and politics.
His work included the plays In Plain Arabic and Point of View, and the films The Terrorist, Bekeet and Adeela, and The Ostrich and the Peacock.
